Reconnecting with the everyday wisdom of recovery

The Lodge Program

The lodge program, big book, continued recovery, aftercare

What it is

The Lodge Program describes in the simplest of terms the path that leads to your spiritual awakening. Add the richness of the fellowship created in this environment and the healing atmosphere of the Hazelden campus, and the results are life-changing.

Who it's for

The Lodge Program is an ideal opportunity for those who:

  • have established a stable recovery and seek further enrichment and growth
  • have become complacent or bored in recovery
  • have fallen away from daily recovery work
  • want to refresh spiritual practice
  • have questions about spirituality
  • have had a brief relapse after an established period of abstinence

How it works

Designed as an open-ended stay, the Lodge Program focuses on how a group of principles, spiritual in nature, can be applied to life's problems. The daily schedule features:

  • directions from the Big Book and 12 x 12
  • presentations by Renewal Center staff
  • staff-guided discussion groups
  • morning and afternoon meditation
  • free time for fellowship, self-assessment, study, and use of fitness facilities
  • guidance and support from staff

Typical Lodge topics

  • understanding what got our attention in active addiction
  • realizing what needs our attention for lifelong recovery
  • recognizing the spiritual lapse that precedes all chemical lapses
  • the Big Book's Fourth Step instructions and the type of sponsorship that grew the original fellowship
  • gender-specific wisdom from the Big Book

This program is not a substitute for addiction treatment and is not appropriate for anyone with a primary treatment need. The minimum age for participants is 19 years.
